Club History
The club formed when Show Director, Todd, and his friends were in high school. The Club disbanded after the summer of '89. In 1995 Todd came back to Aberdeen and started the club up again. By 1996 the Club began putting together shows for the general population of Aberdeen and the surrounding communities.
During the summer of 1997 the Aberdeen Aqua Addicts went to their regional competition in Shoreview, Minnesota. They went for the experience, not expecting to place, and came
back with 5th place in their region and one regional competition under their belts.
Summer 1998, the Aberdeen Aqua Addicts competed in their regional waterski tournament and placed 5th. The tournament was held on the Mississippi north of down town Minneapolis at the Twin Cities River Rat's home site. The Aqua Addicts also put on their first two Away Shows, one at Cottonwood, Minnesota and one at Ortonville, Minnesota.
Summer 1999, the Aqua Addicts again went to competition at Regionals in Minneapolis on the Mighty Mississippi. Of the 8 teams at the tourney the Aqua Addicts placed a close, close 7th, being beaten out by less then 100 points. The Aberdeen Aqua Addicts put on three out-of-town shows in Pollock,SD; Milbank,SD; and Ortonville,MN.

Practice Makes Perfect Wet Spot?
Practice is very important to the success of my ski team. The Aberdeen Aqua Addicts practiced hard for three straight months before they put on their first waterski show. That show was only for practice and family members. It wasn't until the next year that they put one on for the general public. One reason for this was to avoid happenstance visible at right -->
The practice paid off because the show was good, not great but what could you expect for a first year ski team. The following year was much better and the shows have been increasing in quality ever since.
The club was proud of how much, and how quickly its members learned new tricks. The club could brag that it had taught some members how to ski at the beginning of one year and how to barefoot off the boom (a metal pole out the side of the boat) at the end of the same ski season.

Story of "THE WAVE"

In 1997, I saw a sight I will never forget; a sight known to Aqua Addicts as "THE WAVE". It all happened when a group of Aqua Addicts were trying to put up a four tier pyramid. The girls climbed higher and higher as the men on the bottom saw a great wave in the distance. Being the ignorant fools that we were we thought to ourselves, "If we just bend our knees we should be OK." HA!!
The girls climbed higher and higher and the men became more uneasy as they began to realize that this was no ordinary wave. I being a middle base was indeed worried. But we all thought we would be able to gut it out. HA! HA!
The 4 foot wave hit the boat and the boat hopped out of the water, propeller and all. At this point we all realized we were in great peril. As we hit this huge monstrosity the pyramid collapsed in on itself. Three people landed on me alone! The moral of the story is: If you are building a pyramid and you see "THE WAVE" or one of its siblings, BAIL BAIL BAIL!!!!!
